Kerryn Manning
Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards had previously suspended Ms Kerryn Manning for six weeks for breaching HRV Rule 149(1), in that she failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures during the course of a race to ensure that Fox Street was given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible placing in the field at the Charlton harness meeting on 26 May 2008.
Ms Manning appealed this decision to the Independent Appeals Panel who dismissed her appeal on 26 June 2008.
Ms Manning subsequently appealed that decision to the Racing Appeals Tribunal. The matter was heard on 21 and 22 July with the decision being handed down today by His Honour Judge Hicks.
The Tribunal found the charge issued by Stewards to be proven. After hearing submissions from both parties, penalty was varied to a 22 day suspension and a fine of $8,000. Ms Manning’s suspension will commence midnight 25 July 2008 and conclude on midnight 16 August 2008.
