Barry Matterson
Stewards today concluded an inquiry at the offices of Harness Racing New South Wales, Bankstown, Sydney, into the presence of tubing equipment found in the vehicle of licensed trainer Barry Matterson at Tabcorp Park on 23 August 2009 when he presented New York Fashion to race on that day.
After considering evidence from Mr Matterson, licensed driver Adam Ruggari and Ken Tippet and also owners Mr and Mrs Meyers, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 187(2) in that he provided false verbal evidence to a Stewards inquiry on 23 August 2009. Mr Matterson pleaded guilty to this charge and was fined $500.
Mr Matterson pleaded guilty to a further charge under Rule 192(1)(b) in that he had in his possession in his vehicle that conveyed New York Fashion to Tabcorp Park on 23 August 2009 for the purpose of racing, equipment that could be used to produce a prohibited substance (tube, funnel and bucket). Mr Matterson was fined $500.
