Breeders Crown Yearling Nomination

YEARLING nominations for Series 13 of the Australasian Breeders Crown close on May 1 this year.

The yearling nomination is $253 (GST inc).

Alternately, you may pay the Series Fee of $825 (GST inc) which makes your yearling fully paid up for the 2YO, 3YO and 4YO series.

This equates to a saving of $781.

Yearling nomination forms have been posted out to the owners of all eligible yearlings, in addition to those who purchased eligible youngsters from the yearling sales.

However, if you haven’t received a yearling nomination form you can utilise the form on Page 49 of The Harness Racer.

You can also download one from the Breeders Crown website, www.breederscrown.com.au or you can nominate your yearling directly via the website.

Success For Success

THE Gibson family from Young in New South Wales is always very busy across the January/February period, preparing a multitude of impeccably bred yearlings for the various sales.

This year, however, their loyalties were divided between commitments at home and visits to the track to watch their very promising gelding, Two Eye See compete.

His three starts over that period produced three wins, culminating with victory in the $50,000 Linden Huntley Little Memorial.

Two Eye Cee started favourite in the time-honoured Group Two event - run on the night prior to the Australian Pacing Gold Sydney yearling sale - despite an awkward barrier six draw.

He confirmed punters’ faith by belying the wide draw to lead and despite being pressured in front, comfortably defeated Badlands Hanover gelding Chariot King by four and a half metres, in the process earning his owners a first prize of $33,750.

Two Eye Cee is so named because he is blind in one eye.

Consequently, Success Stud did not offer him for sale as a yearling, a decision which has proven a blessing as his three starts to date have yielded just over $40,000 in stake earnings.

Two Eye See is by Alabar Bloodstock’s top sire Armbro Operative who has more than 700 individual winners to his credit.

His dam is the Perfect Art mare Grace Robinson who boasts two winners from four previous foals including the promising pacer Roboat (by Riverboat King).

Since Two Eye See, Grace Robinson produced a Life Sign (which sold for $50,000 the following day at the Sydney APG sale) and a full sister to Two Eye See born this season.

Perfect Art (the ill-fated younger brother of boom stallion Art Major) already has 17 broodmare siring credits to his name, a figure which will surely be extended in coming years.

By capturing the Linden Huntley Little Memorial, Two Eye See also earned the Gibson family a $3750 Vicbred breeders’ bonus on top of the first prize cheque.
