The Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards today held an inquiry into the circumstances of disqualified person, Mr Jeremy Quinlan, entering the premises of Tremon Stud at Gisborne South at various times during May 2011.

After considering evidence from Mr Andy Rogers, (HRV Manager – Integrity). Mr Trevor Gluck (Owner of Tremon Stud), Ms Bridgitte Hutchins (partner of Mr Quinlan) and Mr Jeremy Quinlan himself, Mr Quinlan was charged with a breach of Australian Rule of Harness Racing (ARHR) 259(1)(g).

ARHR 259(1) reads as follows:

A disqualified person or a person whose name appears in the current list of disqualifications published or adopted by a recognised harness racing authority or a person warned off cannot do any of the following –

Part (g) reads as follows:

Enter any premises used for the purposes of the harness racing industry.

The particulars of the charge being that on or about May 2011 until 1 June 2011 Mr Quinlan, whilst being a disqualified person, did enter and reside on the premises known as Tremon Stud, Gisborne South, a property which is used in relation to the purposes of the harness racing industry.

Mr Quinlan pleaded guilty to the charge and after considering submissions regarding penalty, the Stewards imposed a disqualification of four (4) months, which was directed to be served cumulative to his current period of disqualification. Mr Quinlan will subsequently be registered as a disqualified person until 11 Jan 2014.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Mr Quinlan’s forthright evidence, his guilty plea and the nature of the breach.
